adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Ellos has found a home! His story: May we introduce? Ellos, a beautiful 5 ½-year-old male dog, is finally searching for his own home! Ellos is a loving, intelligent dog who builds a strong bond with his people. He loves being outside in the garden, sniffing around, and working with food—perfect for successful training! At the same time, he has a watchful side: he observes his surroundings attentively and reports when something seems suspicious. However, this can be well managed. Since he has only recently arrived in Germany, he still needs to get used to many new things. Currently, he is unsure on the street, as the many new stimuli overwhelm him. Short walks are already possible. At the moment, he feels most comfortable in the garden, where he can settle down in peace. With patient support, he will gradually develop trust in his new environment. Ellos shows resource defense in some situations, which is why he needs clear leadership and training. Who are we looking for for Ellos? We are looking for dog-experienced people who can give our four-legged friend a feeling of security with calmness, patience, and loving consistency. A home without small children would be ideal, as he needs clear boundaries to feel comfortable. A confident second dog is not excluded, as long as the chemistry is right, because Ellos has a great love for his fellow animals and enjoys interacting with them. A home with a garden would be perfect for him, as he feels most comfortable there and loves to explore nature. We wish for active people who are ready to meet him with patience and to gently introduce him to new environments. Do you want to fulfill Ellos's greatest wish and offer him a loving home? Then contact us soon! After a positive match, a special thank you goes to the namingsponsor Martina R., who gave Ellos his beautiful name and thus a unique identity. A big thank you also goes to Ilona and Karlheinz H., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Ellos. As of: 25.03. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 25.03.2025

About Ellos

What life with Ellos looks like

Ellos is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ellos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ellos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ellos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ellos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ellos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ellos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ellos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
