Podengo-DSH-Mix, male, neutered, about 12 years, 60 cm Elmo was surrendered in August 2025 because his owner became very sick. Elmo has proven to be a wonderful, very kind dog at the animal shelter. He is used to living in an apartment. Elmo is in top condition, lively and an enthusiastic walker. Elmo was rehomed for several weeks and was returned at the end of December because he showed territorial behavior in the apartment and even increased it. He also started to chase the cat he previously got along well with. He seems to be prone to jealousy and was previously only familiar with life with his old owner. Now we are looking for a single place for him, other animals should not be in his home. In addition, dog experience is a prerequisite due to his territorial instinct. Since he is otherwise a great dog, we hope he will find a nice warm home again and not have to get through the winter at the animal shelter with his short fur. Elmo in March 2026: Elmo upon arrival:. Er ist Wohnungshaltung gewohnt. Elmo ist topfit, lebhaft und ein begeisterter Spaziergänger Elmo war einige Wochen vermittelt und wurde Ende Dezember wieder zurückgegeben, weil er in der Wohnung Territorialverhalten zeigte und dieses auch steigerte. Er fing auch an, die Katze zu jagen, mit der er vorher gut klar kam. Er scheint zur Eifersucht zu neigen, kannte vorher auch nur das Leben mit seinem alten Besitzer. Nun suchen wir einen Einzelplatz für ihn, andere Tiere sollten nicht in seinem Zuhause sein. Außerdem ist Hundeerfahrung aufgrund seines Territorialtriebes Voraussetzung. Da er ansonsten ein toller Hund ist, hoffen wir, dass er doch wieder ein schönes warmes Zuhause findet und nicht mit seinem kurzen Fell im Tierheim den Winter überstehen muss.
