adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Eloise can stay forever in her Romanian foster home! Her story: Eloise has been waiting for a home since she was a baby. All her siblings could travel. Why did she stay behind? Because she's black? We find that Eloise is perfect – just as she is. And we hope very much that there is one person out there who recognizes that! Eloise is now about 10 months old and is exactly what one would expect of a young dog: curious, adventurous, loving, and yes… a bit mischievous is part of that. So small puppies have a lot of mischief in their repertoire and that's exactly how it should be. Eloise gets along well with other dogs, likes cats too, and is always a friendly little dog girl. She has a shortened tail, which is why her entry into Switzerland is unfortunately denied. Currently, Eloise is about 55 cm tall and weighs about 19 kg. She will probably continue to grow, but we estimate that she will remain medium-sized. Our Eloise is now searching for people who don't expect anything from her at first and show her how a normal dog life works. She is still a young pup and has a lot to learn. One or two mishaps shouldn't be held against her, and Eloise should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. She is looking forward to her new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to the dog training class. In the first year of life, dogs should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of these little rascals upside down. They "forget" a lot of what they have learned and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent – but loving – in training. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! The cute Eloise is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She has an EU pet passport and wishes for a home very much. Does she find it with you? A foster home would also be very helpful for her! Many thanks to Nadine K. for giving Eloise her name and thus an identity! Date: 29.01.

Stand: 29.01.2023

About Eloise

What life with Eloise looks like

Eloise is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eloise, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eloise?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eloise on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eloise if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eloise already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eloise isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eloise and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
