adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Elvin was picked up by the Animal Police on the streets of Romania and now lives in the Public Shelter in Baia Mare. No one knows what his life was like before. Perhaps he was simply abandoned and left to fend for himself. Perhaps he had to survive on the streets his entire life—always searching for food, shelter, and a safe place to sleep. Maybe he learned to avoid people because not every encounter was friendly. Now, he sits in the noisy shelter yard and waits for someone to show him what it means to trust. Elvin is an approximately 3-year-old, medium-sized male dog with a shoulder height of about 50-55 cm. He is an elegant dog with light, creamy fur and an essentially gentle demeanor. His dense coat and harmonious build give him a soft, beautiful appearance. Although he currently prefers to keep a distance, he already possesses a special presence and an impressive appearance that immediately catches the eye. Currently, Elvin is still very insecure. He hides almost exclusively in his hut and tries to create distance through barking. How he interacts with fellow animals is unfortunately not yet known. Behind his behavior likely lies a young dog who never had the chance to learn to trust people and feel safe. For Elvin, we are therefore searching for a loving, quiet, and experienced home that can give him the time he needs. His new family should be aware that everything will be new to him: a home, everyday sounds, walks, closeness, rules, and perhaps even life in the house itself. Elvin must learn step by step that he no longer needs to be afraid. A loving, patient, but also consistent upbringing will be particularly important. Positive dog training classes could help him build trust and grow together with his people. Additionally, Elvin is currently in the middle of puberty. This phase often means insecurity, mood swings, testing boundaries, and sometimes even apparent setbacks in training for young dogs. That's why Elvin needs people who can meet him with calmness, understanding, and clear structures and guide him safely through this important developmental phase. Of course, Elvin not only wants to be physically challenged but also to experience mental stimulation. Dogs generally benefit greatly from shared activities like nose work, hide-and-seek, nature walks, or small training sessions that strengthen bonds and provide security. For insecure dogs, meaningful mental stimulation often helps develop trust and calmness. For Elvin, we sincerely wish for people who don't search for the perfect dog but want to give a young dog a real chance. People who understand that trust must grow and are willing to patiently accompany him on his journey. Perhaps Elvin won't immediately approach his people with open arms— but the one who gives him time could one day have a loyal companion by his side who finally gets to experience what a safe and loved home feels like. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Elvin

What life with Elvin looks like

Elvin is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elvin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elvin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elvin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elvin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elvin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elvin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elvin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
