Emerka

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 11 months

Native Country: Hungary This pretty, young female dog has the name Emerka. Emerka was wandering alone through the streets of Kecskemét on December 23, 2025. There was no one around who claimed ownership of Emerka. Thus, she found her way to Menhely. During the microchip check, no one was found, and no one claimed Emerka, as no one was missing her. Emerka shares the same fate as most shelter dogs, no longer wanted and then ending up on the streets. She now waits for loving people who will walk with her through the rest of her life and show her the sunny sides of life. Emerka is a friendly, loving, and kind female dog, a bit shy at first in the first few minutes, but when she realizes that you mean her well, she warms up. She likes people and enjoys every form of affection, having a lot of catch-up to do and wanting to never miss out again. She is an intelligent and eager learner and will surely be happy and enthusiastic about learning everything about the doggie basics from her new two-legged family, as she is still quite green behind the ears. Walking on the leash already works pretty well, though it is certainly still expandable. She would also be happy with mental and physical stimulation, of course, age-appropriate, once she has settled in. She wants to make up for all the missed time and enjoy many beautiful moments with her new people. Emerka gets along well with her fellow animals and lives in a mixed pack. For our beloved Emerka, we are looking for adventurous and loving people who will welcome Emerka into their family forever. Emerka wants to go on adventures, enjoy long and varied walks, be spoiled with lots of cuddles, snuggling hours, and enough quiet phases. She would certainly be a great partner for jogging, hiking, cycling, or other sports activities in the future. Agility or similar "dog sports" could also bring her a lot of joy. As long as the dog and person have a good time together. Emerka is available for any fun and adventure and will stick with her people through thick and thin. Currently, she is still too young for spaying, which must be done by her new owners when she is old enough. The estimated final height of 38-48cm and final weight of 12-18kg are only estimates. On February 4, 2026, Emerka is 33cm and 8.9kg. Emerka can travel from here starting around early to mid-March 2026, if she has found a home or foster home.

About Emerka

What life with Emerka looks like

Emerka is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emerka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emerka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emerka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emerka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emerka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emerka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emerka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
