adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Emil has found a home! His story: Attention, attention: All-rounder dream dog on the lookout for a cozy home! The little Emil has already drawn a lucky ticket and was able to move into a comfortable foster home in the northern part of Germany at four months old. There, the cute puppy boy has developed well so far and enjoys life among many other animals. Whether cat, rabbit, cows, horses, children, or adults – Emil gets along with all of them and is looking forward to all new acquaintances. Now, the social Emil is waiting for his second lucky ticket and the chance to move into a home where he can stay forever. Do you want to give the cute puppy boy this chance? Emil will probably grow to be medium-sized when fully grown. We appreciate that he will become a sporty fellow, whom we can also imagine as a riding companion. Other types of dog sports and plenty of walks or hikes will definitely also suit the clever Emil. Even though Emil fit in wonderfully at his foster home and there he gave a devoted student, we are looking for people who don't expect anything from him at first. How dogs react to a change of scenery and new environments varies a lot, and one should give the puppy time to adjust. With lots of patience, love, and the occasional treat, Emil will definitely adapt to his new life quickly! Also important is that Emil still has puberty ahead of him. A time when young dogs – just like teenagers – like to have a bit of mischief in their heads and test boundaries. If Emil is guided through this time with loving consistency, nothing will stand in the way of his development into a loyal, lifelong companion. Of course, Emil would also be thrilled to attend a positively working dog or puppy school! Emil is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He has an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive evaluation. Did Emil manage to make your heart beat a little faster? We are looking forward to your inquiry! Many thanks, Sabine! You have given Emil his name! As of: 27.03.

Vielen Dank Sabine! Du hast Emil seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 27.03.2024

About Emil

What life with Emil looks like

Emil is a extra-large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emil, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emil?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emil on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emil if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emil already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emil isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emil and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
