EMMA

Emma is looking for a home with both peace and companionship Hi, I'm Emma! A beautiful black-and-white lady, about 2 years old (estimated January 2024). My story began in Spain, where I come from. I've already had a home of my own, but the busyness there didn't turn out to suit me well. There were many young children, a lot of activity, and people coming and going regularly. For me, that sometimes became simply too much. When I got overstimulated, I could snap at the children. Not because I'm not a sweet dog, but because I couldn't always signal my limits in time, and the amount of stimulation became too much for me. That's why I'm now temporarily in a shelter, and there they're getting to know a very different Emma. I'm doing very well there. I'm a cheerful, active and affectionate dog who loves to play, walk and keep busy. I'm sociable and can get along with other dogs, if there's a good match. Unfortunately, cats are not a good combination for me. What I'm looking for now is a home where calm, structure

About EMMA

What life with EMMA looks like

EMMA is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hondenzorg en Welzijn Europa in —.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting EMMA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about EMMA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hondenzorg en Welzijn Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw EMMA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt EMMA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hondenzorg en Welzijn Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is EMMA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if EMMA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hondenzorg en Welzijn Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know EMMA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
