Adopt EMMI III

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Breed: Mixed Breed Project: Greece/Lesbos (0, 04/2025) Gender: Female/neutered Age: Born 12/2023 Size: approx. 33 cm SH Weight: approx. 6 kg Other: very reserved, in the foster family cuddly and “cooed,” strangers and stimuli still make her insecure and fearful Current Location: Foster family in Feuchtwangen/Bavaria EMMI’s Story EMMI and ROSI have settled in well at their foster home and are enjoying life outside the shelter. People who consider them part of their family adore them and would like to cuddle and play with them all day. Strangers and noises make them fearful. While ROSI still catches the curiosity of other dogs, EMMI prefers to completely withdraw and hide. If someone then gets too close from her perspective, she shows clear defensive behavior through barking and growling. People with a good understanding of dogs and patience are needed, who simply give her the time to work on herself and do not want to force anything. EMMI and ROSI lived in a very confined space during their critical phase and have therefore never really learned to go outside their living area to do their business, but with free garden access, it works quite well. One more note at the end – we often do not know what our charges have experienced and can only guess. Patience is something that does not end after three days or a month. To be able to unfold and learn, trust must be built, and that takes time. How long something like this takes, no one can predict. If you are ready to invest this time and patience, please contact us. We are sure you will find a wonderful companion in EMMI. EMMI is microchipped, fully vaccinated, treated against endo- and ectoparasites, neutered, and tested negative for so-called Mediterranean diseases. Both with the dogs of the foster family, EMMI gets along well, but she cannot be really brought out of her shell by them. We are looking for a quiet home in the countryside with an enclosed garden and a sovereign only-dog owner who will take her by the paw. The new home should be in the vicinity of the foster home as it will likely take many visits for EMMI to be brought out of her shell. Of course, the two will also be rehomed separately from each other.

Rasse: Mischling Projekt: Griechenland/Lesbos (0, 04/2025) Geschlecht: weiblich/kastriert Alter: geb.

About EMMI III

What life with EMMI III looks like

EMMI III is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. in Bamberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting EMMI III, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about EMMI III?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw EMMI III on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt EMMI III if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is EMMI III already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if EMMI III isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know EMMI III and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
