adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Emmy has found her home! Her story: Our sweet Emmy was able to travel to Germany to her foster family at the end of September and once again proves that incredibly adaptable and wonderful dogs are: As if she didn't just come from the shelter and has behind her an endlessly long journey into the unknown. She is simply there, present, cheerful, relaxed, open, and exceptionally cute. With her shaggy fur in warm tones and her extraordinary fur pattern, she looks so golden and sassy. Her face is white/brown, the body white/black. Emmy has a medium size of 43 cm at 8 months old and fits into every family and every activity. Emmy is learning the basic commands quickly and with great joy. The little fur-nose is a friendly and loving female dog, who is looking for a lot of closeness and has a lot of love to give. She loves to cuddle and is happy to roll on her back to have her belly stroked. She is very lively, self-assured, cheerful, and looking forward to discovering the world. She has already discovered driving and has managed the first small walks without major distractions well. Everything else will be learned step by step. We don't know much about Emmy's past. She was rescued from the kill shelter without siblings and brought to safety in our private shelter. But thankfully, all of that is now behind her! Our little magic mouse is ready for her Forever Family and is looking forward to meeting you! Emmy is microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She also brings an EU pet passport. Many thanks to Anja D.! You gave Emmy her beautiful name and thus gave her an identity. As of: 02.10.

Stand: 02.10.2024

About Emmy

What life with Emmy looks like

Emmy is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emmy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emmy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emmy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emmy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emmy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emmy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emmy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
