Endy

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 10 years

Endy is a beautiful mixed breed who lost his owner. He then lived in a kennel run. Fortunately, the family who adopted our puppy came to walk him 2-3 times a week after his owner's death. Otherwise, he had almost no social contact. It was exactly this adopting family that asked us if we could take Endy. The owners gladly agreed, and Endy is now with us and learning to live at home. He is learning rules, proper behavior and table manners. He also regularly attends training classes. Endy knows sit, down, stay and walks well by your side. He just needs consistency. We strongly do not recommend Endy for families with small children. He is not primarily aggressive, but he has developed some defensive mechanisms from the past, where he tries to intimidate anyone who wants something from him that takes him out of his comfort zone. Sometimes he tried to bite us, and a few times he managed to snap us. It is said that he was once attacked by a neighbor with an iron rod. However, we found a solution in the form of a deal with treats, which would even make him do a trick :-))) The key, however, is definitely that a tired dog is a happy dog. Endy would therefore appreciate an active family that would go on hikes with him, play dog puzzles with him, attend training classes (or in the yard) obstacles, etc. He is really VERY smart and needs to be occupied in order to raise his damaged self-esteem. After getting used to us, he is making progress. We are looking for a calm and patient family, because we know that from Endy will be a great, smart partner in trouble. His tolerance towards cats has always been relatively okay, he never chased them, but if a cat "hit" him, he would probably start defending himself, therefore we prefer a home without cats. His tolerance towards female dog of any size, whether they are spayed or not, is relatively good. With dogs, however, it is worse, he chooses his friends and has already rushed into conflicts with us several times. We have noticed that he doesn't have a problem with neutered males who are also very calm dogs. He doesn't get along well with strays. Definitely not a dog for beginners. In essence, he is truly a nice and kind dog, but he needs to understand that nothing bad will happen to him anymore and he doesn't have to show his teeth for every silly mistake. He has been with us for a long time, so he no longer bites us, because he trusts us! The only problem we have with him is at the vet or during brushing. In short, he panics, doesn't want to have a muzzle put on and bravely threatens us. Therefore, we always have to give him some gentle calming medication before the vet. Would you give Endy a chance?

Endy umí sedni, lehni, pac a moc hezky chodí u nohy. Chce to jenom důslednost Endyho důrazně nedoporučujeme do rodiny s malými dětmi. Zkrátka panikaří, nechce si nechat nasadit košík a vesele nás zastrašuje. Před veterinou mu tedy vždy musíme podávat nějaké šetrné uklidňující přípravky. Dáte Endymu šanci? Při zájmu o Endyho pište na e-mail

About Endy

What life with Endy looks like

Endy is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Šance zvířatům in Czech Republic.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Endy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Endy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Šance zvířatům handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Endy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Endy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Šance zvířatům will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Endy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Endy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Šance zvířatům early rather than rehoming privately; they know Endy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
