Enya

Rottweiler · Male · Senior · 10 years

“Skeptische Hunde-Omi” Date of Birth: March 2016 Size: just over knee-high Gets along with dogs: after sympathy Gets along with children in the same household: no Home sought: barrier-free at a quiet suburban edge or in the countryside The initially skeptical, 2016-born female Rottweiler Enya requires a get-to-know phase to overcome her skepticism. Then she is loving and friendly. With other dogs of her size, Enya is compatible, especially with male dogs; she does not like small dogs. At our shelter, she ignores other dogs on the leash. Enya is well leash-trained, but she has an issue with handling (putting on a chest harness and muzzle), so she seeks sensitive people who can read her body language and do not overwhelm her. In her previous home, Enya could also be left alone (this must be refreshed in the future home). Enya lived with a cat in her last home but defends her toys against other animals. Therefore, Enya should be an only princess in her future home. For Enya, we are seeking a ground-floor home at a quiet suburban edge or in the countryside, as arthritis and spondylosis were diagnosed in her. Therefore, she needs pain medication. She is afraid of veterinarians, and she also needs to lose some weight. Since Enya has already injured a person, she must be led with a muzzle at all times and seeks people who can read her body language.

About Enya

What life with Enya looks like

Enya is a small senior rottweiler dog waiting at Tierschutz Austria in Vienna.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Enya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Enya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Enya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Enya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Enya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Enya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Enya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
