Adopt Kevin

Rottweiler · Male · Young · 2 years

Kevin is a 2.5-year-old, unneutered male dog and a delicate mix of Rottweiler and Cane Corso. Towards his trusted people, he is generally very friendly, open, and playful. He is a lively, fun character who enjoys interacting with his people and building a close bond with them. In everyday life, Kevin is cool and well-leashable, making him a great companion. Dog encounters are currently still difficult for him, as are settling down and regulating himself. Especially in situations with many stimuli, he reacts impulsively. For example, during dog encounters, he may vent his frustration. In his previous home, Kevin had little contact with other dogs and could therefore only learn limited social behavior with fellow animals. He also displays a clear protective and controlling behavior towards strangers. He tends to shield his primary caregiver and can actively step forward to create distance in such situations. Here, he needs people who can give him clear orientation and handle such situations confidently and calmly. Kevin cannot currently be left alone and must learn this in small, structured steps. Overall, he needs a home with clear leadership, firm structures, and people who are willing to work consistently and patiently with him. An important part of this will be for Kevin to learn how to find calm and better orient himself to his person. Do you think you are the right person for Kevin or would you like to get to know him better?. Walks well on a leash.

About Kevin

What life with Kevin looks like

Kevin is a large young adult rottweiler dog waiting at Tierschutzverein für Tirol in Innsbruck.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Cannot be left alone, needs structured training for impulse control and socialization

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kevin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kevin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein für Tirol handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kevin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kevin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein für Tirol will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kevin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kevin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein für Tirol early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kevin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
