Adopt Erbse

American Pit Bull Terrier · Female · Adult · 6 years

Our Erbse is now searching for her Forever People. Although she can't relax somewhere waiting when her person leaves, she is now searching again and wants to finally arrive somewhere. The little Pittihund is one of the dogs at the animal shelter who suffers a lot under the circumstances and desperately needs her own special sofa and her own people. Erbse is a very people-oriented, energetic, and sensitive female dog. She is relatively very small but at the same time very athletic. Erbse is a friendly dog through and through. She greets everyone openly, loves attention, and is always ready for anything with full motivation. She is a gentle, soft female dog who brings a lot of want-to-please. At the same time, she brings a lot of power and is seconds-away 'on'. Active people who know how to handle the Terrier Power and are also able to convey Erbse some peace and structure will get with the little female dog a dream dog who sticks by them through thick and thin. Erbse is not afraid of anything, is a attentive companion, and is always up for playing and having fun. Erbse is not rehomed to small dogs or cats, as she brings an established hunting behavior. A sovereign single dog is certainly conceivable, here Erbse shows with the big boys that she can be compatible. For Erbse, we are looking for active people who can offer the Pittihund everything in terms of endurance, structure, and affection that she deserves. Do you think you are the right person for Erbse or would you like to get to know her better?. This dog has a prey drive.

About Erbse

What life with Erbse looks like

Erbse is a medium-sized adult american pit bull terrier dog waiting at Tierschutzverein für Tirol in Innsbruck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: High prey drive, needs structure and mental stimulation, suffers in shelter environment

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Erbse, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Erbse?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein für Tirol handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Erbse on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Erbse if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein für Tirol will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Erbse already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Erbse isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein für Tirol early rather than rehoming privately; they know Erbse and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
