Adopt Fanny

American Staffordshire Terrier · Female · Young · 3 years

Halli-Hallo, I am the Fanny. In the course of an official inspection, I arrived at the animal shelter our shelter very frightened, emaciated, and with extreme skin problems with my friend Balu. Here, I was nourished and pampered, and now I am ready to start my final dream life! I am a very friendly and effusive female dog. Sometimes I cannot yet properly assess my strength, and then I can be a little too effusive, but only because I am so excited about you! I am enthusiastic about long walks and get along well with other dogs; I am happy to meet new dog buddies. In training, I am very motivated and will do almost anything for a treat. Whether I like cats, one would have to examine individually. I bring the typical breed-specific food allergy with me, currently I am on hypoallergenic food. Over time, one can always try new meat and grain varieties to find out what I tolerate well. Otherwise, I now show myself to be health-wise unobtrusive. I am looking for an active home with people who are responsible. It would be nice if a dog could already live with you, children should already bring a certain size and stability. I belong to the so-called "listen dogs," and depending on the federal state, some additional legal requirements are necessary. My people at the animal shelter would be happy to advise you on this. Do you want to get to know me? Then contact the animal shelter!.

Deine Fanny

About Fanny

What life with Fanny looks like

Fanny is a medium-sized young adult american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Has breed-typical food allergies, currently on hypoallergenic diet. Needs gradual introduction of new foods to test tolerance.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fanny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fanny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fanny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fanny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fanny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fanny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fanny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
