Ezio

German Shorthaired Pointer · Female · Adult · 6 years

Ezio is a very handsome 6 year old, large lad who is sadly looking for a new home due to his owners degenerative illness and is in foster care in Fife, but he will need to move very soon. . Ezio has lived a sheltered life moving from a small holding/farm to a home with a very large garden which his owner says was very difficult to secure, Ezio has found his way out of the garden and into the neighbouring fields and on one occasion did chase a sheep. His owner has had to keep him on a long line in the garden so his world has gotten much smaller and smaller and sadly with her illness she can’t give him the exercise that he needs. He has been living with another 8 year old male dog who he loved to play with when he was younger. But as he’s grown the other dog has seen him as a threat and has bullied him which has now caused him to react defensively when meeting some new dogs. With the foster he has lunged at a dog coming towards him, this is all new to Ezio because he hasn’t had much need to walk from the farm or the large garden. While at the foster home this has improved and continues to improve as he builds his confidence. He is recently neutered, vaccinated until June 2027. Legally docked and up to date with flea and worm treatments. Ezio is crate trained and currently sleeps in his crate at night. He has displayed some separation anxiety in the foster home which has improved. He was used to his previous family being around most of the day however in the foster home he has been left after exercise for up to 4 hours with no issues. In the foster home Ezio has been with an older male (13yrs) who felt uncomfortable with the boisterous lad and a female who he was fine with until an incident after he was neutered where they were sleeping together and Ezio snapped at her and bit her on the shoulder. The fosters don’t know exactly what happened or why, but they were all together in the lounge watching tv at the time. Since then they have been wary of each other but no further issues and more recently when the two are together out walking they’ve both enjoyed chasing games together. He has lived with a cat and was fine around that one, but his owners don’t know what he would be like with a new cat. He has chased a sheep in the past so careful introductions and handling would be needed around livestock. The families Granddaughter used to visit from the age of 3 years up who he adored, but they aren’t local so he doesn’t see them much. He’s not been around babies but loved it when their Grandson visited and spent time with him since the age of 14, often sleeping with him in his bed and playing ball games together. When taken for a walk they use a figure of 8 head collar because he does pull and is strong, he’s also used to a harness. Off lead he does usually have a good recall to his name and recalls to 1 long and 3 short pips BUT can be distracted & recall could do with further training. Ezio goes to boarding kennels occasionally with the Basset he lives with and no issues have been reported. He’s a great traveller and has traveled in his crate in the motor home or in the car with no problem, he settles down and snoozes. We are looking for a home where Ezio can be the only dog and have all someone’s attention rather than having to share, he’s a very cuddly, affectionate boy who loves to play & will be a loyal companion. Ezio is currently in foster in Fife and will be rehomed with his 5 weeks free Agria insurance and his Adoption Contract. If you love long walks and have the time and understanding to build this sweet boys confidence please contact us. GSP Rescue UK Terms and Conditions apply. 💜🐾🐾

About Ezio

What life with Ezio looks like

Ezio is a large adult german shorthaired pointer dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ezio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ezio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ezio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ezio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ezio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ezio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ezio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
