Feli

Mixed Breed · Female

It wasn't a loud cry for help that caught our attention; it was a quiet, touching scene that repeated day after day: At the entrance of a supermarket in a small Romanian town lay a delicate female dog and a young cat snuggled closely together. They were seeking shelter from the wind and cold, trying to provide warmth and comfort to each other. Nobody came to pick them up. Nobody seemed to miss them or take responsibility for them. It appeared that they had simply been abandoned there. Our animal welfare workers observed the situation over several days. When it became clear that both of them kept returning to the same spot because they had nothing else, the decision was made to no longer look away. Both were allowed to move into our partner shelter – a place where they can finally be safe. Feli is a young, lively female dog full of energy and an urge to move. She loves running, playing, and jumping and could spend hours outdoors – almost as if she wants to make up for what was denied her in her first months of life. At the same time, she is quite people-oriented and always seeks the closeness of her trusted people. She honestly and effusively delights in attention, shared moments, and every little affection. Feli gets along well with other dogs, and she also shows herself friendly towards cats – perhaps no coincidence given her first friendship. Despite her cheerful and lively nature, she brings a sensitive side to the table: Unknown situations, new sounds, or changes can initially unsettle her. This is not unusual for a dog from abroad who has yet to experience life in a protected home. However, with some patience, calmness, and loving guidance, Feli quickly finds her bearings and gains increasing confidence. She is also very smart and eager to learn – a visit to dog training classes would certainly bring her joy and further strengthen her development. For Feli, we wish an active, empathetic family who enjoys movement and looks forward to exploring the world with her. People who give her the time to settle into her new life, showing her clear structures, reliability, and loving consistency to demonstrate how beautiful daily life can be as a family dog. A home where she isn't pressured but accompanied. Where she learns that she can stay – forever. Would you like to give Feli everything she once desperately sought out in front of the supermarket – protection, closeness, and a secure place to live? Are you aware that animals are not returnable items and that dogs from abroad need time, patience, and understanding? Often, they are not immediately house-trained, have difficulty being alone at first, and need to gradually adapt to their new routine as well as any existing pets. If you are aware of this responsibility, we would be very happy to hear from you with a detailed introduction of your family and your expectations of a new family member. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

About Feli

What life with Feli looks like

Feli is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope for lost Souls e.V. in Kleinostheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Feli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Feli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for lost Souls e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Feli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Feli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for lost Souls e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Feli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Feli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for lost Souls e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Feli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
