Adopt Fifi

American Staffordshire Terrier · Female · Adult · 4 years

Fifi is a spayed female American Staffordshire Terrier, probably born in 2022, who was seized along with another dog by her owner, who neglected the animals and had to go to prison. She is very friendly and attached to her caregivers, but shows suspicion, insecurity, and possibly initial aggression towards strangers. She also needs time to get used to new situations and behaves nervously during the adjustment period. Fifi has a lot of character, loves to play passionately, and enjoys moving. She is intelligent, very obedient, and enjoys training and activities together. Due to her unstable temperament, she is not suitable for families with children. She does not count other dogs among her friends and tends to attack immediately, so she should be an only princess. She is also not compatible with cats. Fifi is looking for loving, confident, and active people who have considerable experience with this breed or a similar one, do not live in the city, and are aware of the responsibility of patiently and consistently training her over a long period. The dog has a shoulder height of 44 cm and weighs 25 kg.

About Fifi

What life with Fifi looks like

Fifi is a large adult american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fifi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fifi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fifi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fifi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fifi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fifi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fifi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
