Fig (& Tuppence)

Female · Young · 3 years

Meet the lovable pair Fig and Tuppence who are looking for their forever home. They are based at Battersea Old Windsor. They both love the company of people and try to work out how they can both fit on your lap. They have Spaniel waggy tails; Tuppence is keen to stop everyone to say hi, Fig is a little shy but quick to come out of her shell. New owners will need to be patient while they settle in and make sure a good routine is in place. They are slowly showing more of their characters, we are sure there is a lot more to come with the right patient home. They are high energy dogs, enjoying being outside and following their Spaniel noses. They are still learning to walk on lead and at the moment can dart around and pull, and this will need some training in a new home. They'll need a home in a quiet location with their own garden to build their confidence and have play time off lead. Tuppence and Fig are very attached to each other, never seen apart from play time to bed time. They would want to be the only dogs in the home as they lack confidence around other dogs and would benefit from being around calm and steady dogs on their walks to help them feel more comfortable. This sweet pair will bring a lot of joy to a household, the endless Spaniel zest of life will be so much fun as their confidence grows. About Fig (& Tuppence)

What life with Fig (& Tuppence) looks like

Fig (& Tuppence) is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fig (& Tuppence), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fig (& Tuppence)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fig (& Tuppence) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fig (& Tuppence) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fig (& Tuppence) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fig (& Tuppence) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fig (& Tuppence) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
