Fillo

Mixed Breed · Male

When you look at Fillos' pictures, his relaxed face, when you hear how affectionate and cheerful he plays with the volunteers from Arca Sevilla, and how much he longs for love, it's hard to believe what this two-year-old (as of 06/2022) Brittany mix has already endured. Fillo lived with a family since puppyhood, and as animal welfare workers, we wonder why these people ever decided to get a dog. The little fur ball wasn't allowed inside the house, but had to live a lonely life in the patio, and whenever the young male dog tried to draw attention, he was beaten by his owner. Neighbors informed our partners about the sad fate of this friendly dog, and when our friends came to rescue Fillo, they found him curled up under the car and trembling from fear. Residents said that the desperate dog had been sitting there for days because he had been beaten with a stick by his owner and had fled to the only safety he knew. With patience and love, our partners lured the small mixed breed out of his refuge and brought him to the safety of Arca. Fillo has only been at the animal shelter for a week, but he has adapted very well. He is happy that someone has time for him (and anyone who knows the daily routine in southern European shelters knows that we are talking about just a few minutes a day), he has quickly made friends with the other dogs, and he is exploring everything he has never seen before. Fillo is an explorer, attentive, calm, and cheerful, and all we can wish for him now is that he will soon find people who want to explain the world to him with love, patience, and a lot of humor. Fillo is a kind and people-friendly dog through and through, which is almost a miracle given his background, but he will need time to understand that his suffering has finally come to an end. As a Brittany mix, he is already a very gentle dog, and every harsh word deeply hurts him. Fillo therefore needs a quiet and very loving home where he can arrive, build trust, and then leave his past behind at top speed with his ears flapping and start a completely different life.

About Fillo

What life with Fillo looks like

Fillo is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fillo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fillo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fillo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fillo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fillo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fillo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fillo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
