Finn

English Setter · Male · Adult · 5 years

3.5 years oldhe is neutered and free from Mediterranean diseases. Cannot be reliably cat tested.Would do well with another dogFinn is a handsome young Orange Belton Setter whose story started in a horrific municipal shelter in Turkey. He was found looking poorly, frightened and incredibly nervous, and it took time to get him safely out. We can only imagine what he may have endured both before and during his time in the pound.Once safe, Finn received the veterinary care he needed, including treatment for inflammation and discharge, which thankfully resolved, as well as having some sutures removed. Fortunately, no further surgical intervention was required, and Finn is now doing so much better. He is neutered and has tested negative for all diseases.Slowly but surely, we have seen a huge change in Finn's character. He has the sweetest, calmest nature and has settled well into the rescue shelter where he is now. He absolutely loves the company of other dogs and is slowly learning that people can be trusted too.Finn is still shy and nervous, but he is beginning to show us the happy boy underneath. He is playing, wagging his tail and making friends at the shelter, and we are finally seeing his cheeky side and gentle, happy nature. The change in him has been wonderful to see.Finn now needs a patient and loving home where he can feel safe and comfortable and continue to build his confidence. He will need plenty of companionship, affection and time to develop a trusting bond with his family. With the right home and support, we believe Finn will continue to blossom and become the wonderful companion he deserves to be.

About Finn

What life with Finn looks like

Finn is an extra-large adult english setter dog waiting at Settusfree in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Settusfree handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Settusfree will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Finn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Settusfree early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
