Stanley

English Setter · Male · Young · 3 years

Stanley is approximately 2 years old.He is neutered and free from Mediterranean diseases. Has not been cat tested.Could live with another dog and children.Stanley is a handsome, gentle boy who is looking for a family to give him the happy ending he truly deserves. He was found by a lady we've worked with before and is now safe in the care of one of our trusted rescue partners. It's clear that life hasn't always been kind to Stanley, but despite everything, he has a sweet and affectionate nature that shines through.Stanley can be a little shy when meeting new people, but it doesn't take long for his gentle personality to emerge. Once he feels comfortable, he enjoys human company and is a friendly, loving companion who simply wants to be part of a family.Unlike many of our rescue dogs, Stanley has lived in a home before, so we expect him to settle into home life relatively quickly. As with any rescue, he'll need a little time to adjust to his new surroundings and may benefit from some gentle reminders with his routine, but we think he'll soon feel right at home.Stanley does have some stiffness in one of his back legs, which is currently being investigated. It doesn't stop him from enjoying life, and we'll provide any updates to potential adopters as we learn more.If you're looking for a kind-hearted companion who will reward your patience with loyalty and love, Stanley could be the perfect match.

About Stanley

What life with Stanley looks like

Stanley is a young adult english setter dog waiting at Settusfree in United Kingdom.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Stanley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Stanley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Settusfree handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Stanley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Stanley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Settusfree will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Stanley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Stanley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Settusfree early rather than rehoming privately; they know Stanley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
