Fino2019 | Piebald | Gypsy Cob | Under 13.2hhWe would really like to be in a position to respond at times just like this one, in order to help other charities protect horses and ponies, no matter what the circumstances.Right from the beginning we have believed that collaboration between animal charities is key to being effective in dealing with horse welfare issues.Sponsoring Fino means we will be able to continue to do that – thank you!The story so far...Fino came to us in the summer of 2021 as one of six ponies we agreed to take in, following an appeal from our lead body The National Equine Welfare Council.A multi-agency operation, involving several of the large charities had taken place and a group of abandoned ponies had been rescued – our Trustees felt we should help if we possibly could. One of our lovely volunteers Kathryn Parker is responsible for her unusual name, having made a substantial donation for the opportunity; Kathryn very kindly continues to sponsor Fino too.Fino was thankfully in fairly good condition on arrival but was rather highly strung and could be quite emotional when handled; it was clear from the outset that she had personality! As time passed she settled

About Fino

What life with Fino looks like

Fino is a large adult horse waiting at Here4Horses in United Kingdom.

Adopting a horse is a long-term commitment that almost always requires either land or a boarding stable. The shelter will discuss the horse's training level, vet history, and what kind of work or companionship they're suited for. Expect ongoing costs: feed, farrier, vet, and stabling.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Here4Horses handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fino if I live in another country?
Sometimes. Whether a horse can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Here4Horses what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Fino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
What a horse comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Here4Horses directly what is included and what Fino still needs.
What happens if Fino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Here4Horses early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
