Fio

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Friendly, people-oriented, attentive, social. Fio was found on the street in June. He was limping and looked weak. We had Fio x-rayed and an old leg fracture was revealed. The local orthopedist said that an operation would not bring any improvement. Fio can walk again now, but he will never be a marathon runner and daily walks should not last for many hours. Fio likes to move around, runs and plays well with other dogs, but then he also enjoys his rest periods. Daily regular walks will be manageable for Fio. He really enjoys mental work and search games and they will help keep him occupied. Fio is very people-oriented and wants to please. He shows himself to be very social in the animal shelter and wherever he was in a pack, he integrated immediately. For Fio a rural home with a garden would be nice. All are vaccinated, microchipped and have an EU passport. They are checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog that is placed makes room for one of those dogs who are starving and emaciated.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Fio

What life with Fio looks like

Fio is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
