Fips

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Breed: Mixed Breed Gender: Male Date of Birth: 05/2025 Size: Small The one-year-old male dog was taken in by animal welfare activists in Romania due to behavioral issues. Fips displayed highly possessive behavior toward his toys and personal belongings. However, about two months after being neutered, his behavior has already improved significantly. Fips has been described as friendly and people-oriented. He gets along well with other dogs and is appropriately playful for his age. He is already house-trained and walks nicely on a leash. His coat requires regular grooming. He arrived at our facility in Heilbronn on May 28, 2026. Fips was placed in a new home for nearly two weeks but returned to us on June 20, 2026, after biting someone. In everyday life, he appears open-minded, affectionate, and willing to follow rules. Problematic situations arise when something falls to the ground and remains there. Fips claims the object for himself and reacts defensively if anyone tries to pick it up or take it away from him. So far, he has not shown this behavior around food. Careful management and muzzle training are essential in these cases. We are looking for experienced owners who can devote sufficient time and patience to raising a young dog and attending dog training classes with him. Children and other animals should not live in the household.

About Fips

What life with Fips looks like

Fips is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Heilbronn in Heilbronn.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fips, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fips?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Heilbronn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fips on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fips if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Heilbronn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Fips already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fips isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Heilbronn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fips and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
