Flip

Male · Senior · 14 years

Flip came to us through a seizure with two other senior cats. The three were in a very poor condition and had to first undergo several vet visits and treatments. Flip is now especially happy to finally be able to start anew. He is a curious and open tomcat who at first glance would not reveal his 14 years. Flip has a lot of energy, a good appetite, and would like to be kept busy. Open and trusting, he takes new situations and visitors in with ease. He is a confident little fellow who can also show his displeasure when needed. He does not quite fit with inexperienced cat caretakers or smaller children. Even though Flip has since regained his strength, he does have some age-related issues. He suffers from high blood pressure, which can be well treated. Flip looks forward to his morning treat (with a hidden tablet) every day and usually does well with his check-ups. If he has to sit still for too long, he fidgets. Flips' blood pressure must be regularly monitored and the medication adjusted as needed in the future. For a while, he was sensitive to touch on his back and hips and received pain medication. As if that wasn't enough, the poor Flip also had catastrophically bad teeth. Like many (older) cats, he suffers from the painful dental disease FORL. All affected teeth were removed, leaving him with a toothless upper jaw. Flip is not bothered by this; he has managed everything without problems and is back to his old self. We are happy to advise you on FORL and what to watch out for. Flip is available for apartment living with a secure outdoor area. A free run is hardly possible due to his daily medication. We also suspect that Flip has lived as a pure indoor cat so far. It is important that he receives a lot of love, attention, and mental stimulation in his new home.

DE·Show original

About Flip

What life with Flip looks like

Flip is a senior cat waiting at Tierheim Bonn in Bonn.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flip, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flip?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bonn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flip on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flip if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bonn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flip already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flip isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bonn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flip and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
