Adopt FLO

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Breed: Kokkoni-mixed breed Project: Greece/Larissa (0, 12/2024) Gender: female/neutered Age: born 2016 Size: approx. 32 cm Weight: approx. 9 kg Other: FLO is blind, calm, uncomplicated, gets along well, and is very friendly to dogs and cats Current Location: Foster family in Larissa, Greece FLO's Story FLO was found in a village near the shelter in a very poor condition. Blind, half-starved, and with numerous injuries, her fur was also in a very poor condition. It's likely she was abandoned by her family … Her front teeth are also missing, and it's probably not just due to her age. She seems to have been hungry most of her life and likely only got bones or even stones out of desperation and hunger. Now, FLO lives in a foster home and mostly sleeps, but our colleagues in Greece have made her into a very happy female dog. Although she is completely blind, she has a very good sense of smell and hearing and can adapt well to her surroundings and orient herself. When the vet examined her, it was also noted that FLO likely received a heavy blow to the head, as part of the left temple is missing. She probably lost her vision due to this. She also has some knee problems, but the X-rays showed nothing serious. FLO can run, jump, and climb stairs, and she seems to have no pain. We know that most people want healthy dogs, but we also know that somewhere out there, there are people who can give a chance to a dog like our little FLO. She deserves to experience a little more love … Older people could also be a good option, as FLO is a very uncomplicated little female dog. This is a current and temporary assessment of FLO. How she will behave in the future, especially after moving into a new home, we cannot predict. Every animal, like us humans, will change and develop. But with the right, patient, and loving guidance, FLO will surely become a loyal and attached companion. FLO is microchipped, vaccinated, treated for endo- and ectoparasites, tested negative for so-called Mediterranean diseases, and neutered. For the little female dog FLO, we wish for sensitive people who do not have a problem with her handicap and can provide her with the necessary security and trust.

Rasse: Kokkoni-Mischling Projekt: Griechenland/Larissa (0, 12/2024) Geschlecht: weiblich/kastriert Alter: geb.

About FLO

What life with FLO looks like

FLO is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. in Bamberg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting FLO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about FLO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw FLO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt FLO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is FLO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if FLO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know FLO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
