Flocki

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Flocki has found his luck! His story: For three years, Flocki was invisible. Trapped in an abandoned garden, without an escape, without communication, without affection. The owners had moved away and simply left him behind. Only neighbors occasionally threw him some food over the fence – so he survived. But that wasn't living. During this time, Flocki deteriorated. His fur transformed into a thick, heavy felt-like armor that constricted him with every movement. Under the matted coat, his skin suffered, parasites found ideal conditions, and he withdrew emotionally even further. Those who see the "before" pictures barely recognize the small dog hidden under this pile of matted fur. Then came the turning point: Flocki was rescued and brought to the Shelter in Bistrita. There, the helpers immediately took care of him. The old fur was carefully removed, he was washed, cared for, and finally properly fed. A different dog emerged: small, lively, full of energy. Today, Flocki truly blossoms in the shelter. He loves being close to people, enjoys affection and cuddles, and plays enthusiastically with the other dogs. One can see how much he wants to make up for what he missed in the past few years. But one must not forget: Flocki has no experience with a normal dog life. Walks on a leash, house training, car rides, life in the house – all of this is new to him. His new people should be prepared that he needs time to learn all these things. With patience, positive reinforcement, and loving consistency, he will surely quickly understand how beautiful a real dog life can be. At around 5 years old, Flocki is in the best age to start anew: no longer a young wild one, but full of energy and curiosity about what comes next. For Flocki, we wish a home with people who enjoy showing him the world. Even though he is a small dog, he wants to be physically and mentally challenged: beautiful walks, hide-and-seek games, small training sessions, maybe even dog training classes or learn tricks. It's important that he not only "runs on the side," but is truly part of the family life. At the same time, he needs retreat possibilities and plenty of time to settle in. Flocki travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to his new home. Of course, he brings his EU pet passport with him. After a positive assessment, he would also be very happy to move to a foster home to leave the shelter behind. Who shows this little survivor that his dark years are truly over and that the best chapters of his life are just beginning? A big thank you to namesake Juno, who gave Flocki an identity. As of: 19.09.

Stand: 19.09.2025

About Flocki

What life with Flocki looks like

Flocki is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flocki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flocki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flocki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flocki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flocki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flocki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flocki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
