Floki

American Bully · Male · Adult · 6 years

Floki came to our shelter as a surrendered dog. His previous owners were unable to provide him with the care he needed due to lack of time and have therefore decided to give him up. At our shelter, Floki is an open and friendly male who seeks human contact and is strongly attached to his caregivers. It is particularly important for Floki that his humans provide him with security, clear guidance and reliable structures. Without this guidance, he may tend to make his own decisions and come up with "dumb ideas" due to his size, strength and energy. In situations with a lot of dynamics, Floki shows a tendency to playfully or overly grab or nip at his human's arms. This behavior is not motivated by aggression and Floki can usually be interrupted. However, this behavior should still be taken seriously due to his physical strength. Humans are needed to set clear and calm boundaries and teach him alternative behaviors. In addition, Floki has shown slight resource-guarding tendencies in relation to toys. Although this behavior has only been shown in a mild form so far, it should be observed carefully in the new home and accompanied by a fair and structured approach to resources from the start. At the same time, Floki can also show a different side: in quiet situations, he is a balanced and affectionate dog who enjoys the closeness to his humans. He can relax and show how pleasant and affectionate he can be. Floki is generally compatible with other dogs. However, he shows a clear preference for female dogs. In the new home, we see him more as a single dog so that his humans can focus fully on his needs, his upbringing and his further development. We currently cannot assess whether Floki could live with cats, as we lack experience in this area. We can imagine a household with stable children for Floki. However, due to his size, strength and the described dynamics, children should already be confident in dealing with dogs and respect his boundaries. Appropriate guidance and supervision by adults is of course necessary. For Floki, we are looking for people who enjoy working with a strong, lively and people-oriented dog. His new caregivers should be confident, set clear and fair boundaries and at the same time give him the security he needs. Anyone willing to work further with Floki and give him the necessary guidance will get a friendly, affectionate and extremely cuddly companion by their side.

About Floki

What life with Floki looks like

Floki is an adult american bully dog waiting at BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Floki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Floki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Floki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Floki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Floki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Floki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr early rather than rehoming privately; they know Floki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
