Flor

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Flor is a beautiful young female Bodeguero Ratonero Andaluz born in February 2020, approximately 45cm tall. She is compatible with: male dogs, female dogs, and cats. Children have not been tested with her yet. Flor is a wonderful young dog who was initially a bit uncertain when she arrived at the Spanish animal shelter. However, she quickly showed that behind this initial hesitation lies a very wonderful character. She has quickly gained trust in her caregivers and now enjoys closeness very much. She especially likes to cuddle and shows how good it feels for her when she can feel safe and secure with a person. Flor is a dog that needs her people. Not necessarily constantly and intrusively, but as a secure anchor to which she can orientate herself. Once she has gained trust, her loving side comes to the fore and you notice how much she enjoys the attention. Flor generally likes other dogs. However, there are simply too many dogs at the shelter at once, and the large number of fellow dogs means stress for her. Therefore, a quieter home would probably be just the thing for Flor. She does not necessarily need a dog companion to be happy - what is much more important are people who give her security and give her the time to settle in her new life. Flor also showed herself to be okay with cats at first glance. As with any living together with cats, the socialization should of course be slow and careful. Flor is one of those female dog, where you can imagine how much she will flourish in her own home. Away from the hustle and bustle, away from the many impressions of the animal shelter and into a life in which she can get to know her people in peace. A life with cuddle hours, small joint adventures and above all with the certainty that she has finally arrived. Maybe someone is waiting just outside who does not want to change Flor, but simply gives her the security she needs to become herself. Who would like to show Flor that trust, security and a home of her own are waiting for her? Flor is of course chipped, vaccinated, neutered, registered and checked by a veterinarian when she leaves. She was also tested for the Mediterranean diseases and brings an EU vaccination certificate with her to her new home. All the pictures we have of Flor are compiled into a slideshow at the top of the page. Just take your time and look at the pictures, or click on them to see the next picture. DE·Show original

Bodeguero Ratonero Andaluz geb. About Flor

What life with Flor looks like

Flor is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. in Essingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
