Adopt Forest

Jack Russell Terrier · Male · Young · 1 year

Return of Forest to the animal shelter is related to separation anxiety, which was not addressed or worked through in any way. The guy wasn't even given a chance and was sent to the animal shelter without a word in the worst cold. That's why we are looking for a conscious caregiver who knows that a dog under the influence of strong emotions can behave unpredictably, ready to work with a behaviorist who will give him time to overcome his fears. If we had to describe Forest in three words, they would certainly be: energy, loyalty, obedience. From the moment he appeared in the area, Forest gathered a large group of admirers among the volunteers. We think that a person has not left any trauma on him - Forest himself jumps onto the knees and demands petting. With a smile on his face, he approaches and enjoys every caress. He gladly follows a person and is focused on him. He had to be taught to walk calmly on a leash. On walks, he is mainly occupied with sniffing and exploring the area. Forest knows basic commands and has perfect recall. He loves baths in the water encountered during a walk - the dirtier, the better. Passing dogs don't impress Forest. He very well finds his way in a dog-human group. Forest is a dog of the Jack Russell Terrier breed. This means that it is necessary to ensure engaging walks and mental activities to satisfy his basic needs. Forest is suitable for people without experience as their first dog, however, his future owners should be aware of the specifics of the JRT breed and provide Forest with active walks and mental activities. Forest would probably find himself in the city's noise. He could live in a house or apartment with children who respect the dog's space. We don't know Forest's relationship with cats - we would gladly find out during the adoption process. We encourage you to follow our social media, where you will find more photos and videos of Forest.

Nie znamy stosunku Foresta do kotów - chętnie go poznamy w czasie procesu adopcyjnego.

About Forest

What life with Forest looks like

Forest is a medium-sized young adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Separation anxiety requiring behavioral work and experienced owner understanding

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Forest, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Forest?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Forest on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Forest if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Forest already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Forest isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Forest and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
