Frank

Male · Adult · 5 years

Meet Frank! Frank is a sweet-natured boy who absolutely loves people and enjoys being the centre of attention. He is a very giddy and excitable character, and his enthusiasm can sometimes get the better of him! Frank loves treats and is always keen to show off what he knows. He has his basic commands and is eager to learn, especially when there’s a tasty reward involved. He can be quite vocal in his kennel, and when excited he can become a little mouthy. He also loves attention and will jump up to say hello, so his new adopter will need to be comfortable helping him learn some calmer ways to greet people. Frank is a strong boy on the lead and will need continued training and guidance with his lead manners. He is an active dog who needs plenty of exercise as well as mental stimulation to keep his busy mind occupied. Frank is looking for an active and committed home where his new family can give him the exercise, enrichment, training and attention he needs. His ideal home will be one where his adopters understand that he is an excitable, energetic boy and are prepared to work with him on his manners and impulse control. In return, Frank has so much affection and enthusiasm to give. He will need a private secure garden. Frank has socialised well with other dogs while in our care, so we feel he could potentially live with another dog of similar size following a successful meet and greet. As Frank came into the home as a stray, we have no previous history on him so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years

About Frank

What life with Frank looks like

Frank is a large adult dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frank, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frank?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frank on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frank if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frank already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frank isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frank and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
