adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Franzi has found a home! Your story: Bistrita, Romania. Warning: Sugar shock! Franzi, Lea, Fred, Gusto, Sassi, Faxe, and Medi were taken into our care together with their mother Lycka. They were born in an auto workshop. There, mother Lycka lived with six other dogs and three cats. The workshop staff asked us for help with the spaying of the animals and to take care of the puppies. That's why the family was taken into our care. Franzi – this pretty mouse is now on the lookout for her own home as soon as she has all her vaccinations. She is very friendly, likes other dogs, and also knows cats. Franzi is now about 50 cm tall and weighs around 20 kg. It is assumed that she will grow larger. From the appearance of her mother, it could be that Franzi is a mix between a herding dog and a guardian dog. One should therefore familiarize themselves with the characteristics of such a breed and consider whether the dog fits into the personal environment. Guardian dogs are not city or office dogs. It would be great for them to have a large property they can guard. Since the territory of a guardian dog extends as far as they can see, the property should be fenced to show them their territory boundaries. Guardian dogs are independent personalities that require the owner to have consistency and empathy and the ability to deal with an intelligent, independent, large dog. They bring many great qualities. People who already have experience with guardian dogs do not want any other breeds anymore, as they, despite their thick skulls, are very loyal and faithful companions. Franzi is looking for people who don't expect anything from her at first and show her how a normal dog life works. She is still a baby and has a lot to learn. Sometimes a mishap shouldn't be held against her, and Franzi should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. She is looking forward to her new life with nature walks, lots of cuddle time, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in the first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They "forget" often everything they have learned so far, and their ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to train consistently but lovingly. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Franzi travels microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed together with her EU pet passport into her new life. Many thanks to Sunny W.! You gave the rascal pack their names!

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Franzi hat ein Zuhause gefunden! Ihre Geschichte: Bistrita, Rumänien. Achtung Zuckerschock! Vielen Dank Sunny W.! Du hast der Rasselbande ihre Namen geschenkt!

About Franzi

What life with Franzi looks like

Franzi is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Franzi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Franzi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Franzi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Franzi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Franzi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Franzi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Franzi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
