adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Time is mercilessly passing by, but no inquiries have been made for Fred so far. The gentle giant has now turned one year old, has an incredibly friendly nature, yet no one shows interest in him. Fred is impressive, a large dog with a great character. The young pup still lives on the auto lot and wanders around there day in and day out, bored. Fred eagerly waits for a family that will give him a dignified life in a loving home. Fred with his extremely interesting fur color is now on the lookout for his own home as soon as he has all his vaccinations. He is very friendly, likes other dogs, and also knows cats. It can be assumed that Fred will grow into a large male dog. From the mother's appearance, it could be that Fred is a mix of a herding dog and a herdsman's guard dog. One should therefore familiarize themselves with the characteristics of such a breed and consider whether the dog fits into the personal environment. Herdsman's guard dogs are not city or office dogs. It would be ideal for them to have a large property that they can guard. Since the territory of a herdsman's guard dog extends as far as they can see, the property should be fenced to show them their territory boundaries. Herdsman's guard dogs are independent personalities that require the owner to have the ability to be consistent and empathetic and to be able to deal with an intelligent, independent, large dog. They bring many great qualities. People who already have experience with herdsman's guard dogs do not want any other breeds anymore, as they, despite their thick skulls, are very loyal and faithful companions. Fred is looking for people who will not have any expectations of him at first and will show him how a normal dog life works. Unfortunately, he doesn't know that. Fred travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms together with his EU pet passport into his new life. He is grateful to Sunny W.! You gave the rattle gang its name! Date: 01.11. This is a young, adolescent dog.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank Sunny W.! Du hast der Rasselbande ihren Namen geschenkt! Stand: 01.11.2024 Weitere Informationen zum Thema Vorkontrolle und Schutzgebühr

About Fred

What life with Fred looks like

Fred is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fred, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fred?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fred on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fred if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fred already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fred isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fred and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
