Freddie

Lurcher · Male · Adult · 4 years

Freddie would like to be the only pet in the home so he can have all the love and attention to himself. He can have social doggy friends out and about; he just doesn’t want bouncy dogs in his face or his areas. Freddie does need work on housetraining & being left alone. We aren’t sure too much about his past, but we have seen some slight separation since he’s been with us in our care. So, a home where someone is around most of the time and can work on the leaving hours gradually is essential. He really is a very sweet boy and with the right people, he'll make a lovely, fun, and affectionate companion who will make someone super happy. He just needs a chance for a fresh start. Freddie is a 4-year-old Lurcher who came into our care as a stray and is now looking for a home to call his own. He's a happy, bouncy boy who loves people and is always up for lots of cuddles and playing with his toys. He can get a little carried away when he's having fun and can become quite boisterous, and a little over-aroused, so for this reason he’s looking to live with older secondary school children. He’s looking for a home with owners who can help him channel his excitement and carry on with his basic training.

About Freddie

What life with Freddie looks like

Freddie is a adult lurcher dog waiting at Dogs Trust Bridgend in Mid Glamorgan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freddie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freddie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Bridgend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freddie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freddie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Bridgend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Freddie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freddie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Bridgend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freddie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
