Freddy

Male · Young · 1 year

A German shepherd with a lot of it, although he is a bit shorter, all black and... absolutely stunning. His shiny, black coat and look could make him have a career on Instagram. However, beauty comes with a package of youthful chaos - because Freddy is only one year old and is a typical "mischievous kid in school age". Unfortunately, his previous history has not been easy - his previous caregiver gave up on Freddy, and the guy ended up in the animal shelter as a very inexperienced dog in life. He needs to be taught practically everything: rules, calm functioning, and emotional regulation. As with puppies, sometimes he tends to bite - in shelter conditions, this is his way of releasing emotions. Freddy badly tolerates being separated from volunteers and being left alone in the kennel after a walk, so we suspect that he may have difficulty with separation and will require smart, gradual work in this area. At the same time, he is an extremely smart and willing to cooperate dog - he quickly catches commands, learns with enthusiasm and really wants to be close to people. Outside of the animal shelter, he can calm down, focus on the caretaker, and cooperate very nicely. In the right hands, he has huge potential to grow into an exceptional, loyal companion. We are looking for a home for him that is aware, consistent, and ready to guide the young dog through the growing-up process. We do not recommend Freddy for a home with very young children - he himself is still "a child", there are plenty of them around, and he can be too impulsive. It would be best for him to find himself with active caregivers who will give him time, movement, support, and clear rules. Freddy really has everything to become a dream dog - he just needs someone who will show him what a calm, safe life looks like. And that he's a bit rowdy now? Well... every great story starts with chaos. :)

PL·Show original

Trzeba go nauczyć praktycznie wszystkiego: zasad, spokojnego funkcjonowania i regulowania emocji. :)

About Freddy

What life with Freddy looks like

Freddy is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Separation anxiety, needs training in basic life skills and emotional regulation

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Freddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
