adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Freki has found a home! His story: Freki's story can make one feel bad. The poor male dog was held on a leash like on a chain and suffered a serious wound on his neck as a result. Our Romanian colleagues were occupied with his medical care for weeks. Now the wound has healed well, and our Opi is ready for his new life, finally free from worries and problems. Freki currently lives in the public shelter in Romania, which is hard for such a needy, people-oriented, and active dog to endure. Despite all the efforts of the staff, Freki longs for a home with people who will care for and love him. Especially due to his age and past, we wish him a peaceful life in safety with his very own people as soon as possible. Freki is a ca. 9-year-old, loving male dog with white fur and cute floppy ears. He is open and friendly towards people and delights in every affection. He also gets along well with his fellow animals. In addition to the healing wound on his neck, he has skin problems and is in veterinary treatment. It is assumed that Freki has not yet experienced life in a house. Leash walking and house cleanliness are likely just as unfamiliar to him as the behavior rules for a well-behaved house dog. But we are sure that Freki will quickly learn the whole dog 1×1 if trained patiently and lovingly. We wish for adopters who will take him in with love and patience, offering him a family connection, a warm dog bed, and beautiful walks. After the adjustment period, we would recommend a visit to a positively working dog training class, where Freki can train and gain positive experiences together with his new family. The sweet Freki travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He has an EU pet passport and can travel after a positive foster home would also be very welcome for the warm-hearted Freki. Many thanks to Mahi for the sweet name and the chance for Freki to have a new life! As of: 06.11.

Stand: 06.11.2024

About Freki

What life with Freki looks like

Freki is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Freki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
