Adopt Fren

Female

Fren is a Shar-Pei mix female dog who arrived in our Hungarian partner shelter in very poor condition. The gentle female dog came from a bad environment and had severe skin problems. Now, with love and good food, her fur has grown back. This delicate female dog has a calm nature. She approaches people cautiously but always in a friendly manner. Fren already walks well on a leash. She gets along with other dogs of both sexes, sometimes being a bit pushy, but she prefers to retreat when faced with overly assertive dogs, sometimes grumbling a little. In a cat test, she showed no interest in the felines; they made her uneasy, and she preferred to leave the room. Due to her sensitive nature, we urgently seek a home for Fren where she can settle in peace, have a cozy spot, and receive plenty of love. We hope for a family, preferably with older children, for Fren. She would certainly not object to having a similarly sized, playful dog as a companion in the family. The family should live in a quieter residential area. We do not envision Fren living in the heart of the city. Small tumors were detected on Fren's mammary line, which were surgically removed along with her spaying. Additionally, she has an old hernia that we will have operated on at a vet designated by the association in Berlin-Spandau, at the association's expense. We desperately hope that someone will open their heart to Fren and give her the chance for a beautiful home. Fren is, of course, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, medically examined, and equipped with an EU pet passport. Currently, Fren is in a foster home in Potsdam, living harmoniously with two other dogs. Brief info: Name Fren Breed this breed Gender Female Spayed Age 01.01.22 Shoulder height ca.

About Fren

What life with Fren looks like

Fren is a adult dog waiting at animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen in Ketzin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fren, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fren?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fren on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fren if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fren already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fren isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fren and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
