Adopt Freud

Male · Senior · 11 years

Freud belongs to the category of invisible dogs. He is either too much... or too little... too old... or too young... too big... or too small... Such dogs are often overlooked by most people because they don't perfectly fit with the expectations of visitors to the animal shelter looking for a four-legged friend. Freud is entirely emotional and until he finds a home, there is no chance that will change. In the conditions we have, we managed to slightly improve his comfort of life; we are constantly working on helping him seek support from people, but also on feeling confident on his own and fully enjoying walks. Sometimes it works. When we move away from the noise, Freud stops pulling and searching for potential threats from all sides. Then he shows us the side of his personality that we like the most, comes to us and offers his belly for petting, and this thread of understanding becomes so precious for every dog caregiver. Our charge easily accepts a muzzle and a leash, can travel by car, bravely endures veterinary visits and grooming procedures. He permanently takes medication for his thyroid and, like any senior, requires more frequent veterinary check-ups. Freud was adopted once before, unfortunately returned to the animal shelter after a week. We know he stayed politely at home without destroying anything. Very much would like our charge to live in a quiet area. This will certainly help him calm down and improve his well-being. We are looking for a family that leads a calm and stable lifestyle. Freudzik will gladly remain the only eye in the head for his caregivers.

Freud należy do kategorii psów niewidzialnych. Nasz podopieczny bez większych problemów daje sobie zakładać kaganiec i szelki, potrafi podróżować autem , dzielnie znosi wizyty w gabinecie lekarskim oraz zabiegi pielęgnacyjne. Magda 668412043 Julia 795592320

About Freud

What life with Freud looks like

Freud is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Takes thyroid medication, requires regular veterinary checkups as a senior dog

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freud, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freud?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freud on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freud if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Freud already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freud isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freud and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
