adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Fridge has found a home! His story: The golden Fridge with long legs is a real ray of sunshine. And that, despite having a tough start in life. The Greyhound pack, once consisting of Fridge, Guapa, Road Runner, and Taras, were seized from abysmal husbandry. He then lived in a shelter for 3 years… the poor fellow had to spend his entire life behind bars. Yet, Fridge remains very open and friendly towards people and gets along well with his fellow animals. Fridge had a lot of luck and was finally able to travel to his foster home in Baiersdorf. There, he’s doing great. He’s very well leash-trained and always oriented towards people. Fridge loves nice walks and has a pleasant temperament without being overly excitable. He’s generally very adaptable and in the house, he’s a very quiet companion. Currently, he lives with cats and gets along well with them. For people looking for a quiet, well-adjusted dog, he would be a great choice. He shows no typical Greyhound behavior and is also suitable for those who are not as active. Fridge is about 58 cm tall and rather slender and long-legged. He lives in a foster home with female dogs, and it works completely problemlessly. In a mixed group, he also goes for walks without any problems. Fridge – a beautiful, lovable, cream-colored, approximately 8-year-old male dog, hasn’t had an easy life so far. The more attention, love, and cuddles on the couch he gets, the better. He’s likely a Magyar Agár mix, or even a purebred; a Hungarian Greyhound. The Magyar Agár is a charming companion who can quickly win you over with his lively, intelligent, and sometimes flattering nature – to the point where you believe you wanted him all along. Greyhound breeds are known to be true couch potatoes at home and always find the most comfortable spot. 🙂 Our Fridge is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. He has his own EU pet passport with him. After a positive check, he’s looking forward to a visit! Who will give the wonderful Fridge their heart? We thank Diana W. & Sandra S. on behalf of Fridge! You gave him his sweet name and the chance to find his family. As of 05.04.

Stand: 05.04.2025

About Fridge

What life with Fridge looks like

Fridge is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fridge, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fridge?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fridge on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fridge if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fridge already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fridge isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fridge and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
