Adopt Frisko

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

April 5, 2025: Frisko was able to travel to his German foster home. April 21, 2025: The photographer Ilona Seipp took pictures of our Frisko and these beautiful photos were created. Many thanks at this point! He is a sensitive and shy young dog who must first gain trust in people. He can be easily lured with treats and cautiously seeks human contact. Frisko has not experienced much in his life - he lived in Canille from puppyhood. But he has taken the first step into a new life. Now he can get to know life with all its diversity. Do you want to accompany him? He is curious and alert and interested in what's happening around him. Work is being done on housebreaking, as well as walking on a leash. August 17, 2025: In his foster home, Frisko has already made great progress. The bond with his foster parents is growing daily, and he really enjoys walks in a quiet environment. Frisko already walks very well on a leash. He also gets along well with cats - a real plus for all cat lovers. He also gets along very well with the other dogs in the foster home. He shows no prey drive. In the house, Frisko is still somewhat unsure at times. Therefore, we are looking for a quieter household where he can settle in at his own pace. For Frisko we are looking for a loving, dog-experienced home with a house and well-fenced garden. People who can show him with patience and understanding how beautiful life can be - without pressure, but with comprehension and calmness. If Frisko touches your heart, we would be very happy to hear from you. March 9, 2026: Frisko has been in Germany for some time now and is still waiting for his own home. We can hardly understand why this wonderful dog has been overlooked so far. The more we hope that someone will finally give him the chance to truly settle in. Frisko currently lives in a foster home and is a very pleasant roommate there. He gets along well with the dogs and also with the cats in the foster home. In the house, he is calm, balanced and simply easygoing. In new situations, Frisko is initially a bit reserved. But once he realizes that nothing bad will happen, he quickly warms up and then enjoys cuddles and the company of his humans. For Frisko we are looking for a loving home in a more rural area, ideally in a house with a garden. He would also be very well suited as a second dog. Where are the people who would like to give this great dog the chance for his own home? We place dogs throughout the country.

About Frisko

What life with Frisko looks like

Frisko is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frisko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frisko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frisko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frisko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frisko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frisko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frisko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
