Adopt Pippo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Our partner Loredana had already informed us that a few new arrivals were waiting for us at the Canile Arzachena. And during our team project trip in April 2025, we got to meet the handsome Pippo in person. The young dog had apparently been abandoned, and the pup was lucky enough to be discovered by the Vigili and ended up at the Canile Arzachena, where he is now well cared for. Pippo lives with his brothers Baco, Benito, and Bongo in the large puppy house. The four young dogs have comfortable sleeping places. In the adjacent outdoor area, they can run around as much as they like, race each other, or enjoy the springtime sunshine. However good things are for Pippo at the Canile: it's no substitute for a real home. We naturally want to prevent him from becoming a "long-term resident." That's why we also wish for the friendly, people-oriented Pippo to leave the Canile as soon as possible and travel to Germany. Would you like to give Pippo the dream home with a close family connection? August 29, 2025: A team colleague and her daughter spent part of their vacation time to get to know some of the shelter animals personally or see them again. Thus, it was possible to learn first-hand how the dogs have developed - including the friendly Pippo. Pippo is very open, kind, and friendly. He was delighted with the attention, enjoyed being petted, and appeared relaxed and content - as if he really enjoyed every little affection. A charming dog who has so much love to give and finally deserves the chance to settle in. Pippo is eagerly awaiting being discovered by the right people who will give him security and go through life together with him. Would you like to give Pippo a home where he can be happy? May 1, 2026: Pippo was able to travel to his foster home in Germany. If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption brings not only a lot of joy, but also work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We place dogs throughout Germany.

About Pippo

What life with Pippo looks like

Pippo is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pippo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pippo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pippo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pippo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pippo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pippo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pippo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
