Frodo

European Shorthair · Male · Kitten · 2 months

Age: about 1 year 1 month Gender: tomcat, neutered With us since: 11.2.2026 Characteristics: Suitable as a barn cat, not single housing Personality: Fearful, reserved, shy Our young tomcat Frodo still looks down at us when we enter his room, which he currently shares with three of our cat ladies. He has not yet fully understood that we want him no harm, but when we come with food, he sometimes glances curiously in our direction. Frodo is still very young and has good chances that there are people out there who can convince him that we are not all bad and with whom he can build trust. But this will require a lot of time, patience and love. Frodo would also be suitable as a mouse catcher on a farm, but preferably - no matter where - with other cats, maybe even one of a similar age to play with. Or a cat that takes him by the paw and shows him that we humans only mean well with him and helps him to shed some of his remaining shyness. The fact is, once you have won Frodo's heart, you have a loyal and faithful companion for life.

About Frodo

What life with Frodo looks like

Frodo is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. in Eutin.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frodo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frodo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frodo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frodo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frodo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frodo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frodo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
