Frosti und Agathe PBFD

Male · Senior · 9 years

over: 🍀 Hello there out there, we are Frosti and Agathe and we have already been living in the animal shelter Stuttgart for quite some time. Originally, we were found and no one missed us. That's why we are now searching for a new home. At the animal shelter, we were checked for infectious diseases. Unfortunately, it turned out that we are PBFD positive. However, we cope well with our illness and do not show any symptoms. We are optimistic that this will continue to be the case as long as we are kept in an appropriate manner and are not exposed to too much stress. Logically, we are not allowed to be rehomed with healthy parrots. We do not want to infect anyone! To be honest, we are both a bit quirky. In the past, we have picked at each other. That's why I, Frosti, am quite bare-chested. However, it was probably more due to the fact that we were not well cared for. Now, Frosti mostly picks at himself. This has been kept within limits. When cleaning our aviary, our caregivers need to be careful with their fingers. We like to pinch them when we are bored, and our small aviary is always boring. And when we are unhappy, we also like to yell at our caregivers. You see, we are a little bit crazy :-). We are parrot quirks. That's why we are looking for a home with people who are also a little bit crazy :-). We would like enough free flight and especially climbing opportunities. We are mainly on the ground. Now we are eagerly waiting for people who will give us a second chance. We need that! Parrot greetings, Frosti and Agathe Do you think we would be a good match? Then please send an email and include a bit about yourselves and your housing conditions. Send pictures as well.

About Frosti und Agathe PBFD

What life with Frosti und Agathe PBFD looks like

Frosti und Agathe PBFD is a medium-sized senior bird waiting at Tierheim Stuttgart in Stuttgart.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

Note from the shelter: PBFD positive (Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease) - cannot be housed with healthy parrots. History of feather plucking. Requires spacious environment with climbing opportunities and free flight time.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frosti und Agathe PBFD, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frosti und Agathe PBFD?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Stuttgart handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frosti und Agathe PBFD on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frosti und Agathe PBFD if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Stuttgart will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frosti und Agathe PBFD already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frosti und Agathe PBFD isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Stuttgart early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frosti und Agathe PBFD and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
