adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! "Every obstacle gives you the opportunity to unleash new strength within you," emphasized the author Friedel-Marie Kuhlmann over a hundred years ago—and almost we believe she had our Fuchur in mind when she wrote these wise words. Fuchur seemed to hold the happiness firmly in his paws. He had quickly traveled to a foster home in Potsdam, but a medical examination brought the bad news, and the happiness flew away once again. In our male dogs, a hip disease was diagnosed—surgical intervention was unavoidable. Furch's hip had to be stabilized bilaterally. The aftermath of the surgery has been very well tolerated. Furch's surgeon is extremely satisfied, and our Potsdam patient has no limitations or pain anymore. It's time to grab the happiness again and search for a loving home with full hope. Despite his medical history, Fuchur has already learned a lot in his foster home. Walking on a leash is a piece of cake for him. However, consistent practice is needed for walks without a leash, as here Fuchur still shows some unrestrained behavior. Furch also masters car rides without problems, and he excels at basic commands. Nevertheless, our wild dragon is no beginner dog. Fuchur can, according to his herding dog genes, sometimes be stubborn and persistent towards other dogs, as well as people. This is evident when he misses a sense of distance and calm, deliberate behavior and wants to assert his enthusiasm too strongly. Here, an experienced human should take Fuchur by the short leash and assert their leadership with confidence. However, our happiness dragon is at the end of his adolescence, which means he will become calmer and soon a faithful, gentle, and cuddly companion—if he receives love, warmth, and empathetic upbringing. Are you looking for a companion for an active life in nature? Fuchur is—according to his size—the ideal companion for you, as he needs a lot of movement: on land and in water. For—please don't be disappointed—he can unfortunately not fly 😊. His luggage is packed. Inside are his EU pet passport and the hope to find happiness forever, so as not to lose it again. Fuchur is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. A big thank you goes to Furch's foster home, where our happiness dragon was lovingly and sovereignly accompanied through the time of illness. A thank you also to Christina O.—you gave Fuchur his magical name and thus an identity. As of: 13.06.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Fuchur

What life with Fuchur looks like

Fuchur is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fuchur, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fuchur?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fuchur on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fuchur if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fuchur already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fuchur isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fuchur and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
