Fufy

European Shorthair · Unknown · Young · 3 years

Update January 2026 In January I visited Fufy again on Sardinia. He has now been moved from his cage to a small outdoor enclosure reserved for FeLV positive cats. But even here, Fufy is currently completely alone and is bored. As soon as someone keeps him company, he comes to life and is happy about affection and cuddles, which he can never get enough of. For this very cuddly and loving tomcat, it's really a big and stressful deprivation not to be able to be in the company of people he loves so much. And there are still no fellow animals in his life. I have not yet been able to fulfill my promise to find him a good place for a nice life, and that hurts a lot. Please, if you have a foster home or a home with secure outdoor access for this beautiful tomcat, please contact me as soon as possible. Fufy should still have the chance for some nice years in his life, he deserves it so much. Fufy spent the first years of his life well cared for as a free-roaming tomcat on Sardinia. A wealthy gentleman took care of him and some other street cats. He could always rely on getting good food, shelter, and basic medical care. Until the day when Fufy was injured in a territorial fight by a foreign tomcat and had to go to a veterinary clinic. This treatment was also covered by his caretaker, but Fufy tested positive for leukemia. The veterinarians informed L.I.D.A. and so Fufy had to say goodbye to his previous life. It's not fair, Fufy, and it hurts to see you alone in your cage. The loving tomcat greets you with an inviting meow as soon as you enter the cat house where he stays in his cage. "Are you coming to pick me up?" - "Oh Fufy, yes, I really want you to come out of here soon."

About Fufy

What life with Fufy looks like

Fufy is a large young adult european shorthair cat waiting at PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fufy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fufy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fufy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fufy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fufy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fufy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PfotenFreunde Sardinien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fufy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
