Joshi

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 2 years

Joshi, a little rebel with lots of potential 🧡 With just two years of life under his belt, he's already mastered several challenges and didn't have an easy start. As a found kitten, he came to us with a injured paw. The healing process wasn't entirely uncomplicated, and at one point, amputation was even considered. Today, everything is fully healed, and he has no lasting damage. People aren't completely foreign to him, but he's currently gathering his first more intense experiences in interacting with them. During these times, he's often very excited and unsure of what to do with his energy and dynamism. In such moments, unexpected actions can occur, where he reacts to a light tap on hand or leg. Currently, he's making great progress with us. The more space he has, the more relaxed and balanced he shows. However, our resources are limited, making it harder to meet his needs. For him, we are looking for people with cat experience who understand his current situation and aren't fazed by occasional unexpected actions. People who enjoy working together with him to build trust and develop a real relationship step by step. We are confident that with patience, understanding, and the right amount of time, he can develop into a normal, friendly, and cuddly tomcat. Additionally, a later release into his new home, which he so desperately wants to return to, will help him become more balanced. Children should not live in the household. It would be ideal if he could move into his new home as a single prince, as he deserves to be at the center of attention after everything he's experienced. We can also imagine a sociable tomcat of a similar age who could help him gain more security. Such a feline friend could certainly learn a lot from him. However, this is not a must. Currently, he behaves like a pubescent teenager on four legs: sometimes sensitive, sometimes cheeky, sometimes a bit overwhelmed. And despite everything, he's an incredibly witty fellow ❣️ Who will show this special tomcat the beautiful side of life?. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Joshi

What life with Joshi looks like

Joshi is a large young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Neuwied in Neuwied.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joshi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joshi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Neuwied handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joshi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joshi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Neuwied will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joshi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joshi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Neuwied early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joshi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
