Adopt Gabriel

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Gabriel was rehomed as a third kitten to Eilenburg in June 2015! ——————————————————————————————————— On behalf of many kitten cats: We were born in 2014 and will only be rehomed with a castration requirement. We have been waiting for a new home since we were small. This is what our caregivers say about us: The dwarf cats are waiting here with us for a new home. Many have been found, brought in, or simply resulted from uncontrolled breeding. At our shelter, they have grown up safely, have been dewormed, treated for fleas and vaccinated. Of course, the new owner must have the dwarfs neutered when they are old enough. All kitten cats are rehomed into suitable for apartment living or into a home with later outdoor access. Ideally, you choose two kittens to provide the Siamese feet with enough mental stimulation and to allow social contact with fellow animals. Or they are adopted as second cat to an existing cat. In single housing, sufficient mental stimulation must be ensured, otherwise such a young cat can quickly come up with silly ideas. Anyone who wants more action in their own four walls is welcome to visit us and give our tiny kittens a chance for a nice life…

About Gabriel

What life with Gabriel looks like

Gabriel is a small senior mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gabriel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gabriel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gabriel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gabriel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gabriel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gabriel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gabriel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
