Gaby

Unknown · Young · 3 years

This lovely lady is called Gaby. Gaby was found together with a whole group of other cats. They were wandering around without an owner and therefore they were caught and safely brought to the animal shelter. Gaby finds all of this very exciting here. It's also no small thing to suddenly move from your old familiar outdoor life to an indoor space where people are constantly coming in. So she's still looking at the cat from the tree. She prefers to be safely hidden in a scratching post and if we get too close, she will puff up to let us know that it's still too exciting. She does like to lie with another cat, so it would be nice if she could move in together, or if there's already a cat present. If the other cat is already people-social, she can also learn that we are not scary. For Gaby, it's important to have a lot of patience and enough treats at home, so that you can gain her trust with that as well. If you don't expect too much from her, but let her set the pace, she can take nice steps in her own home. Small children will be too unpredictable for her and we don't know how she will react to dogs. The estimated birth date of Gaby is 28 May 2023. She has had her deworming, flea treatment, and vaccinations and she has been spayed. She is therefore completely ready to move in. Are you up for the challenge with Gaby? NL·Show original

About Gaby

What life with Gaby looks like

Gaby is a small young adult cat waiting at Hokazo in Uden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gaby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gaby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hokazo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gaby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gaby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hokazo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gaby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gaby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hokazo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gaby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
