Adopt Gamba

Gamba_2 Gamba_5 Gamba_1 Gamba_6 On April 16, 2026, we received a story that deeply moved and left us speechless. The beautiful Boxer male dog Gamba was left in the house with a Cane-Corso female dog and their 12 just four-week-old puppies. The previous owner, who was a soldier, was transferred and left the dogs behind. Fortunately, they are now all in safety, and Gamba has arrived at our Boxerhof. One might think that a dog after such an experience would lose trust in humans, but Gamba proves the opposite. From the very first moment, he captivated us with his loving, open, and friendly nature. He is an absolute sweetheart who simply wants to be loved. Gamba is very well trained and consistently masters the basic commands. On the leash, he is relaxed and pleasant, making walks with him a great joy. He especially loves playing, and balls have particularly captured his interest. He can get quite enthusiastic about it, but he can be easily and without argument stopped when it's enough. Water is also his element. Even our small water fountain immediately won him over. In dealing with fellow animals, Gamba generally shows a social and friendly nature. He gets along well with other dogs by nature. We can envision a harmonious home for him, especially with a nice, confident female dog. What Gamba most seeks is proximity to humans. He enjoys every pat, every bit of attention, and would like to be with you all the time. His clingy and loyal nature makes him a very special companion. We are truly enthusiastic about him, so loving and uncomplicated. Who will give this wonderful Boxer a new chapter full of love? About Gamba

What life with Gamba looks like

Gamba is a large adult dog waiting at Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland in Hiddenhausen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gamba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gamba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gamba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gamba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gamba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gamba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Boxer Nothilfe Deutschland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gamba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
