Gamora

Female · Adult · 5 years

Gamora is a lively, lovable and charming female dog with a strong desire to please. She has a pronounced hunting drive and presumably spent a lot of time outdoors in the past. She attends dog school regularly and already has good basic obedience, which she reliably performs at home, but outside she can still be distracted relatively quickly. Gamora loves familiar people above all. With strangers she is initially somewhat reserved, but she warms up quickly. When meeting other dogs, she sometimes reacts reactively depending on how much she likes them, which is why her foster carer is training her specifically on this. Despite her hunting drive, she has already learned to ignore ducks, swans and similar animals on walks. Thanks to the intensive work of her foster carer, Gamora has made great progress and now moves confidently in everyday life and in our environment. Car travel is no problem for her. She especially loves water, and one of her favourite pastimes is fetching sticks out of the water. We are looking for people for Gamora who have the emotional stability needed to catch her sensitive nature and give her a sense of security. She needs a patient home that will continue to lovingly introduce her to new stimuli and further consolidate her basic obedience. Children in the household should be at least 14 years old. Because of her pronounced hunting drive, she is rather unsuitable for a home with small animals. In addition, her new people should be willing to continue working with her on dog encounters and to support her in training.

DE·Show original

About Gamora

What life with Gamora looks like

Gamora is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde in Hunde Hilfe.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gamora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gamora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gamora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gamora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Gamora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gamora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gamora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
